  1. Build infrastructure

First you need to create server, connect and install Apache to make it a web server. To create a cloud server, follow these steps.

  • Login to Cloud Control panel using your username and password.

  • Allocate appropriate name to your Cloud server which denotes its role and purpose of hosting.

  • Choose a Flavor which denotes the size of the server such as CPU, RAM or hard drive. There is a free 1GB General Flavor for small businesses that want to save money.

  • There are numerous other controls as well for customized websites as per your requirement.

  • Click on Create Server and copy the Root Admin Password displayed for later use.

  • Re-check if you did everything right. It might take less or more time depending on your selections of image and flavor.

  • Copy public IP address from the Network section of servers view.

  • Connect to the server using SSH command in the terminal.app for Mac OS X or use PuTTY SSH for Windows computer. First time connections are verified by the computer which could be typed ‘yes’ and entered.

  • Type or paste the password you copied earlier and get connected to server.

2. Install Apache

Enter ‘apt-get install apache2 –y’ command to install Apache. Once it is done, test it and enter the IPv4 address of cloud server in your web browser. A message confirms that your server is installed on Cloud.

3. Upload the code

Upload your site using File Transfer Protocol (FTP). There are many popular and free FTP service providers you could choose from. Upload the HTML file in the appropriate directory

4. Test your website

After you upload the right HTML file to the right directory, just refresh the browser. Your website will be ready.
